Geyerbad (dialect: "Geibert") is a hamlet and belongs to Oberdigisheim , a district of Meßstetten . It is located on a plateau in the Swabian Alb at an altitude of over 910 m above sea level. M. above the Artlishalde.
Geyerbad was formerly known as Girenbad, Girabad or Geyernbad. There was an inn, a general store , a brick factory , a brandy distillery , a bakery and wash house , a hand thresher , a pumping wells and six water well .
Sulfur bath
As early as 1433 the hamlet of Geyerbad was designated as a public bathing room . Geyerbad was a popular bathing resort around 1453 with a large cave , probably the former bathing basin. According to Schmids Landbuch, the "Girbad" was once a famous sulfur bath and, as can be seen in a medieval document in the municipal archive in Balingen, had a lifeguard .
Mining
Around 1738 iron ore was collected from poor farmers and day laborers for the works in Harras and smuggled into Austria abroad. Smugglers smuggled coffee, ores, Bibles and much more into the area. The ore concretions are almost completely free of sulfur and phosphorus. At the Geppert in Oberdigisheim around 1738, iron ore was mined for the blast furnaces of the iron and steel works in Württemberg on a large scale, especially in the winter months with little work. On the way from the caves rock for five boys Cave Geyerbad remnants of are pinging ( Bohnerzgruben ) visible. The independent miners mined at their own risk and were paid based on the amount of ore.
Brick making
A brickworks on the Geiersbadberg was mentioned around 1732 . The brickworks were operated until after the end of the First World War, after which the hand-made brick factories had to be closed because they were not competitive with the brick factories.
Inn
The inn "Glöckle" was opened by the haulier Karl Pfersich around 1950. It was known and loved nationwide and is now open to the public three times a week.
Fire extinguishing
Around 1900 there were hydrant stations in Württemberg, each equipped with a standpipe, a jet pipe and 70 meters of pressure hose. The building on the Geyerbad has been preserved.
Emergency
The state of emergency could be maintained on the Geyerbad. Identical devices can only be viewed in museums elsewhere.
Bakehouse
A bakery was renovated by the Swabian Alb Association .
