Giacomo Bezzi (born June 17, 1963 in Cles , Trentino ) is an Italian politician ( Unione di Centro UdC ). From 2006 to 2008 he was a member of the Italian House of Representatives and from 2013 to 2018 a member of the Trentino Parliament .

Political career

The geodesist and building contractor Bezzi was Mayor of Ossana from 1995 to 2003 . From 1999 to 2001 he was in charge of Ferrovia Trento-Malè-Marilleva . In 2002 he founded the Fondazione San Vigilio in Ossana , of which he is still chairman.

In the Italian parliamentary elections in 2001 he was unsuccessful on the Abolizione Scorporo list , from which the Trentino regional party PATT emerged in addition to the center-right alliance Casa delle Libertà . Until 2003 he was Segretario of the PATT. In the regional elections in Trentino in 2003 he was able to move into the Trentino regional parliament and was elected its president. In the Italian parliamentary elections in 2006 , he was able to enter the House of Representatives on the list shared with the South Tyrolean People's Party . There he was the first member of the PATT.

On January 23, 2008, he refused to trust the Prodi government after parliamentary group leader Siegfried Brugger had agreed to support the SVP and PATT MPs. This led to a greater stir and ultimately to his exclusion from the party.

He switched to Berlusconi's Popolo della Libertà (PdL) and ran in the 2013 parliamentary elections as a joint candidate for the PdL and Lega Nord in the Senate constituency of Trento, but lost to the PATT candidate, Franco Panizza . In the state elections in 2013 he was Forza Trentino's candidate for the office of governor of Trentino , but failed clearly with only 4.27% of the vote. At least he succeeded in entering the state parliament, but overall the fragmented center-right camp suffered a clear defeat.

In August 2018, Bezzi left the party due to disagreements with Michaela Biancofiore from Forza Italia and ran for the Unione di Centro for the state elections in 2018 . Despite the victory of the center-right camp and the majority of the votes received in the UdC, Bezzi failed to get back into the Trentino state parliament.
