Siegfried Brugger (born May 22, 1953 in Trento ) is an Italian lawyer and politician from South Tyrol .

Life

The son of the South Tyrolean politician Peter Brugger studied law at the universities of Innsbruck , Padua and Rome ( laurea in giurisprudenza) and has been working as a lawyer in Bolzano since 1979 . From 1979 to 1982 he was state youth officer in the SVP , from 1985 to 1988 municipal councilor in Bolzano and spokesman for the SVP parliamentary group there . From 1988 to 1994 he held a mandate as a member of the South Tyrolean state parliament and therefore also in the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol .

From November 21, 1992, when he inherited Roland Riz in this position, until the 51st National Assembly in April 2004, Brugger was SVP chairman .

In the parliamentary elections of March 1994 , Brugger was elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies in the single constituency of Bozen-Land and was confirmed in the parliamentary elections of April 1996 and May 2001 . In the parliamentary elections of April 2006 and April 2008 , he was re-elected in the multi-person constituency of Trentino-South Tyrol . During his time as a mandate he was a. a. Member of the 6th and 12th commission for the long negotiated implementing provisions for the autonomy of South Tyrol and from 1996 in the Agriculture Committee. Since 2006 he has been President of the Mixed Group in the Chamber and a member of the Economic Affairs Commission.

In the parliamentary elections in 2013 , Brugger could no longer run for the Chamber of Deputies due to the SVP's internal term of office and subsequently retired from active politics.

Private

Siegfried Brugger is married to Utta Steinkeller and has three children.
