Gian-Piero Ringel
Gian-Piero Ringel (* 1976 in Göppingen , Baden-Württemberg ) is a German film producer .
Life
Gian-Piero Ringel studied production at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb) . In 2008 he founded Neue Road Movies GmbH together with Wim Wenders .
In 2006 his first production, The Measure of Things, was nominated for a student Oscar .
After the production of Angela Schanelec's feature film Afternoon in the same year, he worked in 2007 as a producer for Wim Wenders feature film Palermo Shooting , which premiered in the 2008 Festival de Cannes competition . In 2009 he produced Angela Schanelec's feature film Orly , a co-production with Paris-based company La Vie Est Belle, which premiered at the 2010 Berlinale . Ringel also produced Wenders 3D dance film Pina , a coproduction with Claudie Ossard and her company Eurowide Film Produktion, Paris. Pina premiered out of competition in the official competition of the Berlin International Film Festival 2011 and won numerous awards, including the German Film Prize 2011 and the European Film Prize for Best Documentary. In the same year Ringel was "Producer On The Move" and co-producer of Bogdan Mustata's Wolf project .
In 2012, Ringel was part of the Berlinale Award Jury “Made in Germany - Perspective Award”. In 2012 , Ringel and Pina were nominated for a BAFTA in the “Best Film Not in the English Language” category and an Oscar in the “ Best Documentary ” category.
Ringel is the managing partner of Neue Road Movies GmbH, part of the European producer network EAVE and a member of the German and European Film Academy.
