Gian Vittorio Baldi
Gian Vittorio Baldi (born October 30, 1930 in Bologna , † March 23, 2015 in Faenza ) was an Italian director and film producer .
Life
Baldi graduated in Social Sciences at the University of La Sapienza in Rome , and enrolled at the Experimental Center of Cinematography one. In 1955 he made his debut as a documentary filmmaker and soon won a Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival for the short film Il pianto delle zitelle (1958). His film La casa delle vedove , made in 1960, was also successful with critics with an Oscar nomination. The following year he directed for the first time: his episode La prova d'amore was part of the film Le Italiani e l'amore . Some artistically remarkable films followed, for which he always wrote the books; from 1967 he also dedicated himself to the production of auteur films, for which he founded his company IDI Cinematografia . From 1975 onwards he only used television with his own films.
Baldi was a lecturer at the Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia of the university in his hometown .
