Martin was a member of the Italian national ski team from 1987 to 1995. When there were points in the World Cup from the 1991/92 season for the best 30, he won World Cup points for the first time on December 8, 1991 as the 29th of the Super-G in Val-d'Isère . A month later he achieved his best World Cup result with eleventh place in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen combination . Apart from the combined scores, a 16th place in the downhill from Bormio in December 1993 was his best result, a month later he won World Cup points for the last time.
For Martin, who did not finish in the World Cup, the participation in the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville was outstanding in his career. By winning the silver medal behind his compatriot Josef Polig , he ensured an Italian double success in the combination. In the Olympic Super-G he was also 12th, in the downhill 14th. Two years later at the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer he was 15th in the combined and 29th in the giant slalom; In 1993 he had achieved 17th place in the combination at the World Championships in Morioka .
After finishing his active career, Martin completed his training as a ski trainer and temporarily took over the training of the Italian national disabled kin team. Martin is the founder of the Freewhite Ski Team, of which he is President and Technical Director.
