Giant is an American hard rock band that released two genre classics with the albums Last of the Runaways and Time to Burn in the late 1980s and early 1990s . These two albums are counted among the most important releases of the AOR (formerly: mainstream rock ).
The band's musicians are the former White Heart musicians Dann Huff ( vocals and guitar ) and his brother David Huff ( drums ), as well as the American studio musicians Mike Brignardello ( bass ) and Alan Pasqua ( keyboard ).
history
After the first two studio albums, the band broke up, as it became more and more difficult for classic mainstream bands to survive due to the emerging grunge sound. In 2000 the band got together again to record a third studio album (Giant III ) in the band's typical AOR style.
Then Huff has been a sought-after and successful studio guitarist as well as a music producer for a long time. Especially in the country scene in Nashville, he is considered a first-class music producer. His clients include top acts such as Keith Urban , She Daisy , Kenny Rogers , Rascal Flatts , Faith Hill , Jewel , Tim McGraw , LeAnn Rimes , etc.
Another reunion of the band took place in 2009, but only partially with Dann Huff, who appears on the album Promise Land as a studio guitarist, but not as a permanent band musician of the group. Then, due to other obligations, he was unable to take on the role of guitarist and singer again. The two remaining musicians David L. Huff and Mike Brignardello then hired the former Strangeways singer Terry Brock and the guitarist John Roth (including Winger ). In 2010 the fourth studio album Promise Land was released .
style
The style of music can be attributed to the typical American rock format AOR . The guitar playing by Dann Huff, who is considered one of the best rock and studio guitarists of all time, is formative.
