Giedrio kailių gamybinis susivienijimas was a company and a manufacturing association in the second largest city in Lithuania , Kaunas . He made fur .

history

The company emerged from the fur processing factory built by the Vinikai brothers in Kėdainiai . In 1932, the Vinikai brothers founded the first Lithuanian fur processing factory. From 1935 she was in Kaunas. Her name was "Vilkas" and she was in Vilijampolė (Degtukų St. 22). The “ Giedrio kailių fabrikas ” factory was established in Soviet Lithuania . It became the main business of " Giedrio kailių gamybinis susivienijimas ". This existed from 1964 after the merger with " Raudonosios vėliavos kailių siuvimo įmonė " (established 1951). Over 2 million skins were imported from Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan , Uzbekistan . The products made from it were exported to Siberia , in Lithuania only 7 to 8 percent of the processed furs remained. In 1977 there were 1,500 employees. The factory was later privatized; the expensive transport costs after the destruction of the Soviet Union became decisive . The factory went bankrupt and the business subsequently split up into several smaller companies. One of them was the UAB “Vilko kailiniai” cooperative founded in 2000 .

Gargaras

In the former premises of the factory, a night club "Gargaras" (with an area of 1600 m² for a maximum of 1200 club visitors) was set up at Raudondvario plentas . The club was officially opened on September 23, 2011. The owner and director is Algirdas Pukys.

Vilko kailiniai

One of the smaller successor companies, Uždaroji akcinė bendrovė "Vilko kailiniai", founded in 2000 , now has two company stores (in Kaunas and in Vilnius, Lithuania ). In 2013 there were 22 employees. The director is Danguolė Gylienė.

All that remained of the large fur company was a skinning workshop for high-quality skins. Around 100 to 400 furs are produced per month. They are only sold in Lithuania. In the first year there were customers from England who helped the newly founded company through the initial phase.
