Giessenburg is a place and a formerly independent municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland . It was re-formed on September 1, 1957 by the union of the two communities Giessen-Nieuwkerk and Peursum . On January 1, 1986, it merged with Arkel , Hoogblokland , Hoornaar , Noordeloos and Schelluinen to form the new municipality of Giessenlanden (part of Molenlanden since 2019 ).
