Located in a sparsely populated, rural region, the B6369 joins the B6355 in Gifford. These connect the village to the highways A1 ( London - Edinburgh ) and A199 ( Musselburgh - West Barns) in the north and the A68 ( Darlington - Dalkeith ) in the west. In the 19th century there was a branch line to Gifford. Efforts to extend this via Garvald to the East Coast Main Line were not realized. As a result of the low utilization of the route, passenger traffic was stopped in 1933.
