Gilbert Forray

Gilbert Forray (born February 16, 1930 in Paris , † May 15, 2017 in Clamart ) was a French général d'armée and writer .

Life

Between 1980 and 1983 Forray headed the École spéciale militaire in Saint-Cyr-l'École ( Yvelines department ).

When the Force d'action rapide (FAR) was established with effect from July 1, 1984 , Defense Minister Charles Hernu Forray appointed its first commanding officer. In 1985 he moved to Paris as État-major particulier du président de la République and remained in this office until 1987. In that year he became Secretaire général de la defense and Forray reached the high point of his career with his appointment as Chef d'état-major de l'armée de terre . Between 1992 and 1998 he was Grand Chancellor of the Legion of Honor.
