Gilbert Thomas Burnett

Gilbert Thomas Burnett (born April 15, 1800 in London , † July 27, 1835 ) was a British botanist and zoologist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Burnett ".

Burnett was the first professor of botany at King's College London (1831-1835). Burnett wrote some botanical works, but also zoological works such as Illustrations of the Manupeda or Apes and their Allies , which appeared in 1828.

The English botanist John Lindley named the orchid genus Burnettia in his honor in 1840 .

Burnett was a member of the Linnean Society .
