Jille

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jille ( spelling : JILLE; born January 4, 1987 in Saito , Miyazaki Prefecture , Japan ) is the stage name of a J-Pop singer with pop and electro influences.

She began her career in 2011, where she released two singles as an indie artist under the name Tasha Gee (spelling: TASHA gee). She was unsuccessful, but got her first record deal in 2012 with the sub-label Universal J , the record company Universal Music Japan , under the stage name Gille (original spelling: GILLE), which she changed to the spelling J instead of G in 2016.

Life and career

Gille had been learning English since she was six and won several speaking competitions during her school days. This won her a scholarship to a university in Los Angeles .

She released her debut single Will on July 18, 2011, under the stage name Tasha Gee . She dedicated the song to her family, who fell ill with foot and mouth disease. However, the single remained unsuccessful and her second single Hanabira / Hatsukoi Memory ( Japanese 花 び ら / 初恋 メ モ リ ー ), which she released on May 30, 2012, also. In the same year she released download singles, which are covers of Japanese songs, in English.

After being spotted on YouTube in 2012 , she got an offer from the record company Universal Music Japan for her powerful voice and fluent English pronunciation, and she signed the record deal. For the new start, her stage name was changed to Gille . She released other cover songs for download, including Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO , which was a duet with American singer Steve Jay . Since the record company wanted to take an international step with her, an international download EP , Lead the Way , was released on May 16, 2012 . However, the EP was only a minor success and the record company wanted to break new ground, marketed it as unknown and so its face was not shown on their first cover album .

The cover album was called I Am Gille. , was released on July 18, 2012 and has English translations of Japanese songs and internationally successful English songs. Unexpectedly, the album shot to number 7 on the Oricon charts in its first week of sales and sold 18,004 times. The album stayed in the charts for 19 weeks and sold more than 70,000 times in Japan.

On October 24, 2012, she also released her first single, called Gille , which was called Girls / Winter Dream . The song Girls is a sample of the O-Zone hit Dragostea din tei and goes more into the electro-pop genre. In a global edition (English versions of the two songs) the single was released two days earlier internationally as a download. Her next single followed on January 30, 2013, under the name Try Again , there were various previews (so-called teasers ) on YouTube with many different Japanese celebrities who contributed to the topic of the single. The theme was strength: falling and getting up again and again.

She released her first studio album on March 6, 2013 and named it Gillesound Vol.1 . In addition to new songs, the album has the single released by Universal Music Japan and a new edition of their emotional song Will . Ultimately, the album achieved little success and their second cover album, I Am Gille , was announced for September 4, 2013 . 2 at.

Since 2016 she has been active under the artist name Jille (spelling: JILLE).
