Ginnossar ( Hebrew גִּנּוֹסַר), often also in other spellings due to the transcription from Hebrew, is a kibbutz on the northwest bank of the Sea of Galilee in Israel with 593 inhabitants (as of 2018).
The kibbutz was founded on February 23, 1937 as one of the first tower-and-palisade settlements . Due to the location on the lake and the proximity to various Christian pilgrimage sites (including Tabgha ), tourism is an important branch of the village. Agriculture also plays a major role, the kibbutz builds u. a. Bananas .
A well-known resident of the kibbutz was the politician Jigal Allon . The Yigal Allon Museum and Educational Center , which deals with Allon's life and the history of Galilee, is named after him . The most important and well-known exhibit is the so-called Jesus boat , a 2000 year old fishing boat over eight meters long.
