Gino Carlo Sensani

Gino Carlo Sensani (born November 26, 1888 in San Casciano dei Bagni , Italy , † December 14, 1947 in Rome ) was an Italian costume designer .

Live and act

Gino Sensani had become an orphan at the age of twelve. As a young adult he attended college and studied painting in Florence (1911). In the meantime, Sensani traveled to Paris, where he made contacts with artists such as Erté, Alfons Mucha and Umberto Brunelleschi. In 1911 he returned to Italy and traveled again to Paris, but also to London. Here he met Aldous Huxley and David Herbert Lawrence , among others . In 1914 Gino Sensani went to the theater, where he began working as a costume designer. He also worked on a puppet theater.

With the dawn of the sound film age he began to be more interested in cinematography. In just 15 years, Sensani supplied over 80 productions, which were staged by renowned directors such as Guido Brignone , Nunzio Malasomma , Camillo Mastrocinque , Gennaro Righelli , Goffredo Alessandrini , Mario Bonnard , Alessandro Blasetti , Riccardo Freda , Carmine Gallone , Mario Soldati and Alberto Lattuada . From 1935 until his death at the end of 1947, Gino Carlo Sensani was professor of costume design at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia .
