Giorgio Lamberti (singer)
Giorgio Casellato Lamberti (born July 9, 1938 in Adria ) is an Italian opera singer ( tenor ).
Life
He grew up in Bolzano and received his training at the local conservatory . In 1964 he debuted as Arrigo in the opera I Vespri Siciliani by Verdi in Rome .
He had particular success when he replaced Franco Corelli in the Arena di Verona in 1970 as Don José in the opera Carmen by Bizet . His career took him to the opera houses in Chicago , Baltimore and Cairo, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Vienna State Opera , the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and the Deutsche Oper Berlin .
In 1996 he ended his career with a performance of Samson et Dalila by Saint-Saëns at the Zurich Opera House .
