Giorgio Venturini

Giorgio Venturini (born March 11, 1908 in Florence , † March 15, 1984 in Rome ) was an Italian film producer and director .

Life

Venturini was already interested in the theater during his college days and was active as a director and author (“La storia del soldatino Piccino Picciò”); He also organized events, including the Florentine section of the fascist university theater. Even during the short-lived Republic of Salò , Venturini was organizationally active in the cultural sector. After the liberation, he was considered politically compromised and switched to the production of films, which he first made cheaply in the studios of the Milan ICET and then made his own premises at FERT in Turin. Melodramas in particular were on the list of his productions from 1948 onwards; More and more colorful adventure and costume films came out, directed by directors such as Vittorio Cottafavi , Fernando Cerchio or Gianni Vernuccio . In 1955, the American Lewis Milestone's staged confession of a woman was a serious financial loss that forced Venturini to make significantly fewer and cheaper films again. From the mid-1960s onwards, his activities became more and more sporadic until they finally ended shortly before his death in 1983.

As Giorgio Rivalta , Venturini was the director responsible for the Italian version of internationally produced films or co-director of genre works. He also subordinated these works to the entertainment cinema, which testify to the safety of craftsmanship and skillful design. His only film in sole direction, La venere di Chironea , was also an adventure story enriched with mythological facets.
