Giovanni Antonio Dario , also Daria , D'Aria (* 1630 in Pellio Intelvi ; † March 8, 1702 in St. Florian ) was an Italian architect , stone cutter and master stonemason who mainly worked in Austria .

Life

His style suggests an education in Rome . He is mentioned in Salzburg in 1659 . He has probably been in charge of the construction of the Residenzbrunnen since 1656. His ancestor was the cathedral builder Santino Solari . Dario was in the service of the Salzburg prince archbishops for over twenty years . He redesigned the Domplatz, created a facing of the St. Peter monastery with a copy of the facade of the residence opposite. In a plan drawing of Domplatz from around 1669, the installation of a column is already entered at the point where the Marian column was installed in 1771.

After his first marriage to Francesca Garuo Allio from Scaria (today Lanzo d'Intelvi ), he married Eva Katharina Gruber from St. Florian on May 24, 1689, with whom he had four children:

  • Joseph Cajetan (7.4.1690–27.7.1764).
  • Thobias Cajetan (November 5, 1694).
