Giovanni Battista Rezzonico

Giovanni Battista Rezzonico (born June 1, 1740 in Venice , † July 21, 1783 in Rome ) was a cardinal of the Catholic Church .

He was appointed cardinal deacon of the titular deaconry of San Nicola in Carcere by Pope Clement XIV on September 10, 1770, without having previously received any consecration . He took part in the conclave 1774-1775 , the Pope Pius VI. chose. Giovanni Battista came from the same sex as Pope Clement XIII. (1758–1769) and Cardinal Carlo Rezzonico the Younger (Cardinal 1758).

From 1763 until his death Rezzonico was Grand Prior of the Grand Priory of Rome of the Sovereign Order of Malta and in 1765 commissioned the architect Giovanni Battista Piranesi to redesign the priory church of Santa Maria del Priorato .
