Giovanni Bruno Vicario

Giovanni Bruno Vicario (born June 25, 1932 in Udine ; † January 28, 2020 ibid) was an Italian psychologist and, like Paolo Bozzi (1930-2003) and Walter Gerbino (* 1951), joined the "School of Trieste", which goes back to Gaetano Kanizsa attributed to the Gestalt theory in Italy. Vicario was Professor of Psychology at the University of Trieste from 1962–1975 , from 1975–1999 at the University of Padua and then taught and researched at the University of Udine .

In 1960 Vicario and Paolo Bozzi discovered the phenomenon of "auditory streaming". In 1999 the international society for Gestalt theory and its applications awarded him the Wolfgang Metzger Prize for research work carried out with the Japanese psychologist Yoshie Kiritani on the vertical organization of perceptual processes.

Vicario was also active as a writer in the field of fantastic literature . He published under the pseudonyms AG Greene and G. Newman, but also under his own name.
