Giovanni Silva de Oliveira (born February 4, 1972 in Abaetetuba , Brazil ) is a former Brazilian soccer player . He began his career in 1991 in Brazil with Tuna Luso. In Europe, where he worked for FC Barcelona , among others , he is known by his stage name Giovanni .

Giovanni was considered to be one of the technically best footballers in the world, who, despite his height of 190 cm, excelled in dribbling and fascinating tricks. This earned him the nickname "Magos" in Greece , which means magician. Giovanni is also 20 times Brazilian national team player (six goals) and was at the 1998 World Cup in France . Since 2012 he has been working as a scout for Olympiacos Piraeus .
