The Giovipass (Italian Passo dei Giovi ) is a lower Apennine crossing north of Genoa and thus represents the bottleneck on the transport axis Milan- Genoa. The pass is overcome by two double-track railway lines and several roads and is located on the Ligurian High Trail , a hiking trail from Ventimiglia to Bolano .
The Giovipass went down in technical history with the first large-scale three-phase operation on a railway line.
