William "Gipsy" Daniels (born February 9, 1903 in Llanelli , Wales , † June 1967 in Plymouth , England ) was a Welsh light heavyweight boxer .

Career

Daniels made his debut as a professional boxer in 1919. His career was changeable - sometimes he won, sometimes he lost, sometimes he boxed a draw. In 1927 he won the BBBofC Welsh Area Light Heavyweight Title against Frank Moody and the English championship title ( BBBofC ) against Tom Berry as well as the British Empire Title , which was renamed the Commonwealth Boxing Council in 1954 , and lost in the heavyweight division against Max Schmeling in the Berlin Sportpalast on points. The following year he knocked out Max Schmeling in the rematch in the Frankfurt Festhalle in the first round. On May 12, 1938 he successfully completed his last fight against Alf Robinson .
