Girbelsrather Strasse (Düren)

The Girbelsrather road in the district town Düren ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a city road . It begins at Friedrich-Ebert-Platz and immediately turns off Binsfelder Straße in an easterly direction. It leads in the direction of Girbelsrath , which is where it got its name from. The Kölner Landstrasse runs parallel to it . The Heinrich Böll Comprehensive School is located on Girbelsrather Strasse .

During the First World War , the Düren airship hangar was on Girbelsrather Strasse .

history

The street has always been called Girbelrather Straße. It used to end on Yorkstrasse, the continuation was called Girbelsrather Weg. It was not until 1905 that the city council decided to designate the entire street as Girbelsrather Straße. August Schoop referred to part of the route as the Heerweg and Roman Road.

A plaque is attached to the house at Girbelsrather Straße 35 , which refers to the founder Rudolf Schenkel .
