The Jewish cemetery

The Binsfelder road in the district town Düren ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a city road . It begins at Friedrich-Ebert-Platz and bends at right angles to the east at the confluence of Römerstraße and ends at the exit of the city. In this area it is classified as state road 271.

About halfway along the street is the listed Jewish cemetery , which has been in use since 1888.

history

The street used to be called "Erper Straße". This name is attributed to the fact that the road was planned as a feeder road from Binsfeld , Frauwüllesheim , Kelz and Gladbach to Erp . It should connect Düren with the affluent areas of the Cologne and Bonn area.

In 1855 the route in the city was disputed. Instead of the current street layout, others wanted to use the access road via Römerstraße, Frankenstraße and Bonner Straße to Oberstraße into the city.

On July 1, 1859, the road was opened to traffic. Until the 1960s, it was an avenue with mighty linden trees between the confluence of An der Windmühle and Römerstrasse .
