Memorial stone in the cemetery

The new Jewish cemetery is located on Binsfelder Strasse in Düren in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The cemetery is located in Düren-Ost between Binsfelder Straße and Danziger Straße, right next to the satellite town . A memorial stone is also placed on the burial site . It is the only Jewish cemetery in the Düren district that was still occupied until 2000 after the Second World War .

The Jews from Düren and the surrounding area have been using the cemetery since 1888. There are 22 tombstones ( Mazewot ) from the razed village of Langweiler on the cemetery wall .

In June 1996, many of the 200 or so tombstones were knocked over and torn from the earth. A community of citizens repaired the cemetery by September 1996. On May 31, 2020, there was further destruction.

Today the Jewish cemetery belongs to the regional association of the Jewish communities of North Rhine .

The last funerals in 1999 and 2000 were those of the married couple Hanna and Emil Kamp, who lived in Düren after emigrating to South America until their deaths.

The cemetery is registered under number 1/60 in the list of monuments of the city of Düren.
