Jewish cemetery in Gladbach

The Jewish cemetery in Gladbach , a district of Vettweiß in the Düren district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ), was laid out in 1886. It is a protected architectural monument .

The forest cemetery used to belong to Müddersheim , today it is in the Gladbach district . Since it is in the middle of the forest, it can only be reached via a beaten path.

The Jewish cemetery was created at the end of the Müddersheimer Weg at the forest on the slope of the Neffelbach . The burial place with an area of 12 m × 17 m is surrounded by a chain link fence, the gate is locked. Because of the dense deciduous tree roof, the cemetery ground is forest floor. The cemetery was occupied from 1886 to 1937. There are still seven tombstones ( mazewot ) left. Earlier here were Jews from Müddersheim , Sievernich and Gladbach buried.
