Jewish cemetery (Tetz)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jewish cemetery was in Tetz , a district of Linnich in the Düren district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). The burial site was used by the Jews from Tetz and Boslar .

Little is known about this former Jewish cemetery . It is located in the middle of the village on the Malefinkbach behind the house at Lambertusstrasse 56, near the narrow footpath that leads from Lambertusstrasse over Malefinkbach to Dettelweg. A few houses down there was a Jewish prayer house in the building at No. 62 Lambertusstrasse .

The burial place was occupied until 1874. Then it had to be abandoned because of rising groundwater. In the neighboring village of Boslar , a new Jewish cemetery was laid out on a mountain slope and used until 1940.

There are no more tombstones ( Mazewot ) in the Tetz cemetery . It has been used privately as a garden for many years and is not open to the public.
