Jewish cemetery (pier)

Jewish cemetery in pier

The Jewish cemetery is located at the former pier , a district of the municipality of Inden in the district of Düren ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

The site of Pier was almost completely dredged by 2014/15 because it had to give way to open-cast lignite mining ( Inden open-cast mine ). The Jewish cemetery is located east of the village near the Rur in the direction of Krauthausen behind the property there and was spared from being excavated.

The roughly two ares large burial site was occupied from 1869 to 1925 and was forcibly sold in 1944. There are still four tombstones ( Mazewot ) that were put up again in 1963 when the cemetery was restored.
