The old Jewish cemetery is located on Arnoldsweilerstraße in Düren in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The cemetery used to be in front of the Düren city wall at the Wirteltor , today it is located in the city center, for example next to the parking garage in Arnoldsweilerstraße in a small green area. A memorial stone is also placed there.

The Jews from Düren and the neighboring towns used the cemetery from around 1500 (first mentioned) until 1888. The cemetery probably already existed in the 15th century. Wenceslaus Hollar drew it into his city map as early as 1634. Until the Jewish cemetery in Aachen was built , some Jews from Aachen were also buried here.

On July 20, 1887, the government in Aachen ordered the closure of the cemetery out of "political and sanitary considerations, in particular due to the expansion of the city that has taken place and is still growing". A new burial place was created in Düren-Ost on Binsfelder Straße .

When the supply lines were laid in 1951, a single gravestone ( Mazewa ) from the old cemetery was found, which has now been placed next to the memorial stone.

The cemetery is registered under No. 1/142 in the list of monuments of the city of Düren.
