László Sepsi [ ˈlaːsloː ˈʃɛpʃi ] (born June 7, 1987 in Luduş , Mureş County ) is a Romanian football player . The full-back plays for Universitatea Cluj .
Career
László Sepsi is of Hungarian descent.
His career began in 2004 at the age of 17 with Gaz Metan Mediaș in Divizia B (now Liga II ). After the narrowly missed promotion, the then coach László Bölöni brought him to Stade Rennes in the French Ligue 1 a year later . There he could not prevail and was only used in the cup . Sepsi returned to Romania in 2006 and joined Gloria Bistrița , who was playing in League 1 at the time . There he was able to prevail as a regular player and reached with the club the qualification for the UI Cup , in which the club was defeated in the final Atlético Madrid .
During the winter break of 2007/08 , Benfica Lisbon signed him. Sepsi was only used irregularly for the Portuguese, so that he was loaned to Racing Santander to Spain at the beginning of the 2008/09 season . Also in Santander Sepsi could not prevail as a regular player. In the winter break of 2009/10 he returned to Romania and played for FC Timișoara . He finished the 2010/11 season with his team as runner-up behind Oțelul Galați . Since his club was denied approval for the 2011/12 season, he was relegated to League II and fought there with his team to return to the House of Lords. In February 2012, the first division club FCM Târgu Mureş signed him . After he was relegated with his team at the end of the season, the reigning champions CFR Cluj signed him. At the beginning of 2014 he loaned it to Târgu Mureș again for six months. After the rise , the loan business was extended by a year.
For the 2015/16 season Sepsi moved to 1. FC Nürnberg , with whom he was runner-up in the 2. Bundesliga in 2018 and thus promoted to the Bundesliga . However, his expiring contract was not extended and he left the club. He joined the Romanian club Universitatea Cluj .
