Girenbad (Hinwil)
Girenbad (also Gyrenbad) is the outer guard designated part of the municipality Hinwil in the Canton of Zurich in Switzerland . In Aussenwacht there are two cheese dairies that have already won several awards for their creations. One of them is produced by the “ Girenbader Chöpfli ”. The landscape around Girenbad is characterized by agriculture, the largest employer in Girenbad.

Girenbad is located in a shallow hollow on the slopes of the Allmen at 800 m above sea level. M. South is the outside guard Wernetshausen , west of the outer guard Ringwil. To the north, the Aussenwacht borders the community of Bäretswil .
history
Girenbad was mentioned for the first time in 1432 in the records of the Rüti monastery . A healing effect was ascribed to the water from the outside watch. The large stone houses "Schlössli" and the Kurhaus Girenbad still bear witness to this tourist era. After years of use as a spa and then as a restaurant, the Kurhaus is now a privately owned residential building.
In 1961 the Luge World Championships took place in the natural ice channel above Girenbad. The route was 1200 meters long and overcame an altitude difference of 140 meters. The route of the railway can still be traced in the field today. The Bernegg ruins are not far from the Girenbad car park in the forest. The tenor singer Joseph Schmidt died in the Waldegg restaurant in 1942 after an illness of heart failure. He had fled Germany from the National Socialists and interned in the Girenbad internment camp.
In 2019 the Girenbad school will be 150 years old.
