Wernetshausen is a village on the western slope of the Bachtel and belongs as outer guard to the political municipality Hinwil in the Swiss canton of Zurich . It is at 725 m. ü. M. In 2001 the population was 782 people.

history

Wernetshausen emerged as a settlement of the Alemanni and was in the year 867 as Werinholveshusa the monastery of St. Gallen presented.

economy

Dairy farming and cattle breeding are carried out in Wernetshausen . While spinning mills , weaving shuttle production and cooperage dominated in the past , it is now ateliers, consulting firms and craft businesses.

The village newspaper was founded in May 1992 and is called Nöis for öis (news for us).

On the outskirts of Wernetshausen is the Looren Translation House , which offers professional literary translators work stays. It was set up in 2005 in the former residential and commercial building of the Albert-Züst-Verlag.

school

In the village there is a kindergarten and a primary school as a semi-autonomous school unit of the primary school in Hinwil. The upper level must be attended in Hinwil or Wetzikon.
