Gisela Fechner

Gisela Fechner (born November 5, 1926 in Gelsenkirchen , † April 10, 2016 in Bad Gandersheim ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Gisela Fechner joined the SPD in 1945. In the Berlin election in 1967 she was elected to the district council of the Spandau district. On April 29, 1971, she succeeded the later Senator Gerhard Heimann, who was moving into administration, as a member of the Berlin House of Representatives . Until 1985 she was a member of the Berlin state parliament for four electoral terms. She was involved in the Justice Committee and the Petitions Committee. She paid particular attention to the prison system and the concerns of prisoners. She was also a member of the House of Representatives' Grace Committee for years.

In 1985 Fechner was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class , for her charitable work. The laudation at the presentation in December was given by the then President of the House of Representatives, Peter Rebsch .
