Gisela von Bruchhausen (* 1940 in Berlin ) is a visual artist .

biography

Gisela von Buchhausen studied sculpture at the Berlin University of the Arts from 1978 to 1984 with Phillip King, David Evison and Robert Kudielka. In 1982 she was a founding member of the ODIOUS group (with Klaus Duschat , Klaus H. Hartmann , Hartmut Stielow , David Lee Thompson , and Gustav Reinhardt, among others ). The group ran a joint studio for years. The members exhibited together or individually. In 1984 she became a master class student with David Evison. In 1987 she was an assistant to Anthony Caro in the Stahl '87 workshop at the Berlin sculptor workshop. From 1989 to 1990 she had a teaching position at the Berlin University of the Arts. Von Bruchhausen has been a member of the German Association of Artists since 1991 .

Von Bruchhausen lives and works in Berlin and Werder (Havel) . She makes sculptures, reliefs and collages. The works are characterized by their abstract shapes and connections with curved, matt-lacquered steel plates and steel rods. They develop a strong spatial effect.

Scholarships

In 1985 von Bruchhausen received a grant from the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris , in 1986 a work grant from the Senator for Cultural Affairs, Berlin, in 1995 a work grant from the Kulturfonds Foundation , in 1999 a grant from the Künstlerhaus Lukas in Ahrenshoop and in 2001 a work grant from the Art Fund Foundation , Bonn.
