Gitta-Kristine Hennig (née Albert ; * 1944 in Halle ) is a German art historian.

Life

Hennig spent her childhood in Podberesje near Kimry in Russia as the daughter of a radio electrician from Siebel Flugzeugwerke who was abducted in the Ossawakim campaign . She graduated from the technical college for librarians from 1965 to 1969 and worked from 1969 to 1972 as a museum assistant, later as head of the art library at the Museum of Fine Arts in Leipzig .

When she moved to Radebeul , she worked freelance for the Dresden Kupferstichkabinett . She curated exhibitions at Galerie West in Dresden-Löbtau . The first exhibition of the painter Hartwig Ebersbach outside of his place of residence, which she supervised, was closed again after the opening at the instigation of the Ministry for State Security .

Hennig gave opening speeches for exhibitions by contemporary artists (including Claus Weidensdorfer , Gunter Hermann , Konrad Maass , Wolfgang Kühne and Bärbel Kuntsche ) and wrote reviews of art exhibitions for the local daily press. From 1985 to 1989 she worked on the written papers of visual artists (including Fritz Tröger and Karl Kröner ) at the Saxon State Library .

During the time of reunification she worked for the procurement department of the office for fine arts at the City Council of Dresden and later continued her work in the local culture office. In connection with the reconstruction of the Dresden Frauenkirche , she transcribed the historical building files in the main state archive in Dresden .

His son Sebastian Hennig , who also works as a visual artist and cultural journalist, comes from his marriage to the painter and graphic artist Hans-Joachim Hennig .
