Giuseppe Marello
Giuseppe Marello (German: Joseph Marello ; born December 26, 1844 in Turin , Italy; † May 30, 1895 in Savona , Italy) was Bishop of Acqui . He is venerated as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church .
Life
Giuseppe Marello became critically ill with typhus in 1863 . He vowed to become a priest if he survived. He survived and attributed his rescue to the Consolatrix afflictorum . In 1868 he was ordained a priest . He then worked as secretary to Carlo Savio , Bishop of Asti. Together with this he took part in the First Vatican Council . In 1878 he founded the Congregation of the Oblates of Saint Joseph to care for the needy and to educate the youth. Joseph was named Bishop of Acqui in 1889.
Beatification and Canonization
Joseph Marello was by Pope John Paul II. In 1993 beatified and in 2001 canonized .
The Roman church of San Giuseppe all'Aurelio is dedicated to him.
