Giuseppe Torti

Giuseppe Torti (born February 1, 1928 in Ronco sopra Ascona , Ticino , Switzerland , † March 14, 2005 ) was the Roman Catholic Bishop of Lugano .

Life

Giuseppe Torti received the sacrament of ordination for the Swiss diocese of Lugano on June 7, 1952 . He was Archpriest of Bellinzona and Director of the Caritas of the diocese.

In 1995 he was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Lugano by Pope John Paul II . The episcopal ordination donated him on September 10, 1995 Gilberto Cardinal Agustoni ; Co-consecrators were Archbishop Karl-Josef Rauber and Bishop Ernesto Togni .

His resignation was granted by John Paul II in 2003.

He was buried in the crypt of the Basilica del Sacro Cuore in Lugano Molino Nuovo .
