Glabridin is a chemical compound found in the root of licorice ( Glycyrrhiza glabra ). It belongs to the flavonoids .
Glabridin is thought to have antioxidant and estrogen-like effects.
Cosmetically, glabridin is used as a bleaching agent against pigment spots. It is also part of an oily flavonoid extract from liquorice root (" glavonoid "), which is added as a food ingredient to functional foods or dietary supplements for weight reduction.
