Gladys Perez

Gladys Pérez (* in Villa Vásquez ) is a singer ( soprano ) and music teacher from the Dominican Republic .

Pérez studied at the Conservatorio Nacional until 1978 and completed postgraduate studies in Rome in 1981 . She was for many years a solo singer of the Coro Nacional and the Coro Municipal of Santo Domingo , and has performed with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional , headed by Manuel Simó , Carlos Piantini , Francis Schwartz , Jacinto Gimbernard , Rafael Villanueva , Julio de Windt , Amaury Sánchez and Fernando Geraldes on .

In 1973 she made her debut as an opera singer at the Teatro Nacional in Verdi's Rigoletto . In the Palacio de Bellas Artes she sang Desdemona in Verdi's Othello . As a song singer she performed a. a. with the pianists Vicente Grisolía , Lillian Brugal and Ramón Díaz Peralta . In 1993 she took part in the OAS music competition. In 1997 she took part in a gala of the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional conducted by Michel Recchiuti in honor of Verdi at the Opera de las Américas in Santo Domingo.

Pérez teaches singing at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música and at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo . For her services as a singer and music teacher, she was honored by the Dominican Ministry of Culture in 2009 during a concert in the Palacio de Bellas Artes .
