The Glammsee is located in the northwest of the Sternberg lake landscape in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It is located about 23 kilometers southeast of Wismar . North of the lake is the town of Warin . The body of water has a maximum length of one kilometer and an approximate width of 660 meters and drains over the Brüeler Bach into the Baltic Sea . Only the south bank is forested. A disused railway line Wismar – Karow and the federal highway 192 run near the east bank . Due to its urban location, the Glammsee is used as a recreational area, swimming and fishing lake. In the south the lake borders on the municipality of Blankenberg .
At Blankenberg at the southern end of the lake there was a Slavic castle on the Tönnisbach.
