The gloss loris ( Chalcopsitta ) are a genus of medium-sized and slender parrots . All four species are native to the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea . The name Chalcopsitta comes from the Greek, chalkos means "bronze-colored" and psitta means "parrot".

features

All four species of glossy lory are between 31 and 32 centimeters tall. They all have long tails and a piece of bared skin at the base of the lower mandible . The species show no sexual dimorphism . The young birds have duller plumage and clearly recognizable dark circles than the adult birds.

Their diet consists of fruits , nectar and pollen .
