Glas Koncila ("Voice of the Council") is a Roman Catholic supraregional weekly newspaper with its editorial office in Zagreb ( Croatia ).

history

On the initiative of the Zagreb Franciscans , with the support of the then Archbishop of Zagreb , Franjo Šeper , the newspaper Glas Koncila appeared for the first time on October 4, 1962 to report on the Second Vatican Council .

The newspaper appeared on September 29, 1963 under the motto The New Face of the Church . It was published by the Archdiocese of Zagreb, whose bishop was also the editor-in-chief of the Glas Koncila . In the mid-1970s, the circulation was given as 140,000. Until 1984 the Glas Koncila was published every two weeks.

Glas Koncila has been published weekly since January 1985 and was published by the Archdiocese of Zagreb, Split-Makarska , Vrhbosna (Sarajevo) , Rijeka and Zadar , and from 1987 to 1991 also by the Archdiocese of Belgrade . Since 2004 the church newspaper Glas Koncila has been published solely by the Archdiocese of Zagreb.

Glas Koncila reports on events from the Roman Catholic Church worldwide, on the Greek Catholic Diocese of Križevci in Croatia and on the Greek Catholic Christians belonging to the diocese in Bosnia and Herzegovina , Montenegro and Serbia and also on other events, mostly from the point of view of the Christianity and its social doctrine . In this regard, Glas Koncila provides the reader with information and offers in the five headings Događanja (“Events”), Kultura (“Culture”), Duhovni kutak (“Spiritual Corner”), Pitali ste… (“They asked…”), Hodočašća (“ Pilgrimages ”) are available.

In the “Events” column, for example, newly published spiritual books in which the church newspaper was involved are presented. In the "Culture" section, newly published books, especially in the areas of church history , the latest films and general cultural events are presented. The section “Spiritual Corner” offers the reader the corresponding Bible text of the Sunday Gospel and the corresponding reading . In addition, the relevant day's saint or an important church building is presented to the reader and a theological text is provided, which should stimulate one's own way of life from a Christian perspective. Under the heading You asked ... you can find general letters to the editor concerning the Christian faith which are answered by Glas Koncila . The pilgrimages section lists the following Roman Catholic pilgrimage sites in the Republic of Croatia and offers pilgrimages to Marija Bistrica , Aljmaš , Karlovac-Dubovac , Krasno , Ludbreg , Remete , Sinj , Solin , Trsat , Trški Vrh , Vepric and Voćin .
