The Glasgow International Exhibition Cup was a Scottish soccer cup competition that was played in 1901 during the Glasgow International Exhibition . It was the second event of its kind after the tournament during the exhibition in 1888. The competition, which was run by the Scottish Football Association, began on August 7, 1901 and ended with the final on September 9, 1901 at Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow . Eight clubs from the Scottish First League of the 1901/02 season took part in the competition. The competition took place in knockout mode and consisted of the 1st round, the semi-finals and the final. In the final, the Glasgow Rangers and Celtic Glasgow faced each other at the Old Firm . The Rangers won the final 2-1. A year later, the Rangers made the trophy available as a tournament prize for the British League Cup, which was held in favor of the survivors of the Ibrox disaster .
