Gleis 8 is a German pop band . It was developed by the former 2012 Rosenstolz singer AnNa R. founded.

history

AnNa R., who lives in Berlin, and saxophonist Lorenz Allacher started working on new pieces at the end of 2011. They met the Hamburg producer Timo Dorsch, who made contact with the Hamburg drummer Manne Uhlig. In January 2012, the four musicians founded the band Gleis 8. The name is an allusion to the fact that the band often has to commute between Hamburg and Berlin and the ICE to Hamburg always leaves from platform 8 at Berlin Central Station . Universal Music later signed the group.

On May 10, 2013, the single Who I Am was released , which stayed at number 70 in the charts for a week. The debut album Bleibt das immer so followed on May 24, 2013 and reached number seven in the charts. It was recorded in studios in Hamburg and Berlin. The second single, Geh not missed the charts , released on September 13, 2013 for download . In the winter of 2013 the band completed their first tour.

The festival appearances planned for summer 2014 were canceled due to the cancer of two band members, Manne Uhlig and Lorenz Allacher. Allacher died in October 2014 as a result of the disease. On September 11, 2015, the title Gone was released as the first single from the second album Endlich , which was released on February 12, 2016 .

The band doesn't seem to be active anymore (March 2020). On the band's homepage under "current dates", concerts up to June 2017 are still mentioned today, in June 2018 there was a single appearance at the Hammer Summer .
