Glenn Thomas Ashby , MNZM (born September 1, 1977 in Bendigo ) is an Australian sailor .
successes
Glenn Ashby took part in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing with Darren Bundock in the Tornado boat class . With 49 points they finished second behind the Spaniards Fernando Echávarri and Antón Paz and ahead of the Argentines Santiago Lange and Carlos Espínola and thus received the silver medal. With Bundock Ashby 2006 in San Isidro , 2008 in Auckland and 2009 in Gargnano each champion . He also secured numerous world championship titles in non-Olympic boat classes. In 2017 he won the America's Cup as the skipper of the Aotearoa of Team New Zealands .
At the end of 2018 he was appointed a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his sporting successes, especially in the America's Cup .
