The Glenpool oil field was one of the richest in the United States at that time, producing more than 300,000,000 in 75 years.

Glenpool initially consisted of a loose settlement of 3,000 people in 1907. The town was formally established in 1908 and continued to grow rapidly until the economic crisis of the 1930s stopped growth. Glenpool became a quiet, mostly agricultural town. It was not until the 1970s that a second growth began with the influx of citizens from Tulsa, and the population increased from 800 to 2,800.
