Gliśnica is a village in the Greater Poland Voivodeship . It belongs to the Odolanów municipality in the Ostrowski powiat .

Geographical location

Gliśnica is located about 11 kilometers southwest of the city of Ostrów Wielkopolski on a district road that connects the places Odolanów and Raszków . The Kuroch River flows through the village.

history

Gliśnica is first mentioned in 1652. Until 1793 the place belonged to the district administrators of Odolanów , from 1819 to the Thurn and Taxis family . The settlement of Kaczory and the desert of Biadaszki belonged to the village at that time. In 1789 there were 164 residents in Gliśnica, in 1822 there were already 200 and at the end of the 19th century over 400, half of whom were Protestants . A Catholic primary school had existed in the village since at least 1859, to which 65 children attended in the winter of 1866/67. The teacher at that time was Hieronim Woliński. During the German occupation (1939-1945) the place was named Schönfeld . Before 1932 Gliśnica was in the Powiat Odolanowski ( Adelnau district ), from 1975 to 1998 in the Kalisz Voivodeship . From 1932 to 1975 and since 1999 Gliśnica has been part of the Ostrowski powiat .

In the area of ​​the former manor there are three large English oaks with the following connections: 504, 598 and 658 cm. The 29-meter tall trees are natural monuments . There is a forestry building from the beginning of the 20th century nearby. At the soccer field there is a Protestant cemetery active from the 19th century to the 1940s . The Poles as well as the Germans were buried there.
