Glover Morrill Allen
Glover Morrill Allen (born February 8, 1879 in Walpole , New Hampshire , † February 14, 1942 in Cambridge , Massachusetts ) was an American zoologist and ornithologist .
Born to clergymen Nathaniel Glover Allen and Harriet Ann Allen, he studied at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After receiving his doctorate , he lectured in zoology at Harvard University and was appointed Museum Director of Mammals at the Harvard Museum of Comparative Zoology . He also traveled to Central and South America , West Africa , the Nile , Belgian Congo and Australia . He was the editor of the ornithological journal The Auk . In 1915 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
