The clucking ( Sparassis ) is a fungal genus of the family of Gluck relatives (Sparassidaceae) that the relationship among the Stielporlingsartigen belongs.

features

The fruiting body of the mother hen is a basal, thick stalk with flattened, leaf-like twigs. The twigs are covered on both sides with the fruit layer ( hymenium ).

ecology

Hucklings live parasitically and saprobically on mold wood, also from old parts of roots.

species

For a long time it was assumed that the mother hen genus consists of three species, but then many new tropical species of the genus were described in a short time, so that today nine species are known in the genus. The most closely related genus is the genus Sparassiella , a genus of Australian chick mushrooms.
